AFTER MASSIVE WEIGHT LOSS (Bariatric Surgery etc.)
Most people have to deal with weight loss during their lives at sometime. However, there are some who have lost massive amounts of weight, often as a result of gastric bypass operations or restrictive surgery that decreases their food intake. This can leave a person with unsightly hanging or saggy skin, often at the abdomen, thighs, buttocks and arms, which unfortunately will not respond to diet and exercise.
For those people who have lost a lot of weight (often over a short period of time) and are now self conscious about the amount of fat and skin hanging around their bodies, we offer single or multi-procedure surgeries that will remove, tighten and reposition areas of your body, leaving your appearance leaner and healthier.
Body lifts are most successful when supported by a healthy lifestyle (exercise, restriction of alcohol, no smoking etc) and diet.
Total body lift – this works by addressing and
pulling up the loose pouches of skin at the thighs, buttocks, abdomen, waist and
hips in one go. A total body lift can transform the way the body looks. Often combined
with an arm lift or breast reduction and lift, the excess skin down to the
muscles and the thick layer of fat beneath the skin is removed, giving the body
a tighter look and an overall improvement. Some scars can be hidden in natural
skin creases, and even the long one circling the body fades over time, rarely
being seen even when wearing a swimming costume.
Liposuction - Reshapes and re-contours the body by removing fat deposits in areas that make you look slimmer and bring your contours back into harmony with the rest of your body.
Tummy tuck - It removes and tightens excess skin and fat around the middle and lower abdominal area, and usually the internal abdominal wall muscles are tightened at the same time. This procedure is often combined with liposuction of the tummy, abdomen, hips, waist and thighs to give the best results. Sometimes an additional vertical incision on mid-tummy (above and below the navel) is needed for further results.
Thigh lift - This will improve the look, shape and size of your legs by removing excess, droopy skin on your inner thighs. It will also tighten any remaining skin and reduce dimples.
Buttock lift - If your bottom is sinking and sagging, the buttocks can be reshaped and restored to give a nice contour in the lower body. Smoothing and tightening of the skin above the upper part of the buttocks can also be performed, and any excess skin removed.
Arm lift - Results vary depending on the amount and location of droopiness in the skin, however the procedure removes loose, flabby skin and fat that hangs under the upper arms (widely known as ‘bingo wings’). This is often combined with liposuction to remove excess fat and reshape the arms, resulting in a firmer appearance and a shapelier look.
Extra points to consider when thinking about a ‘post weight loss’ makeover:
· Consider your life after surgery and how you will look after your new body
· You should have been ideally at a stable weight for several months before surgery
· Laboratory tests will need to be completed to ensure there are no mineral or vitamin deficiencies that are common in people who have lost a lot of weight
· The ‘after-surgery’ body takes some getting used to, and anyone considering this surgery must then be dedicated to caring for him or herself properly post-operatively
Special package prices are available to include any of the above-mentioned procedures (subject to suitability). These packages may also include other procedures that have not been mentioned above.
Our risk & complication rate is not higher than that of any surgery performed in any other destination by similarly qualified doctors. Cosmetic surgery offers improvement, not perfection or the solving of life problems.
